Soft Line Studio Notes is a space for quiet observations on gardens, planting, and the changing seasons. Written from the countryside, these notes explore our approach to garden design, our relationship with land and materials, and the slower rhythms that shape our work. Expect reflections on growth, craft, and collaboration and the small details that often matter most.

There is a quiet moment each year when the landscape begins to shift. The light lingers a little longer, the soil softens, and beneath the surface something stirs. Bulbs push gently through the cold earth, snowdrops nod in the shade, and the garden reminds us that change rarely arrives

January is often considered the longest month and most would agree it can feel like a bit of a slog; we’re coming down from the highs of Christmas, the nights are long and dark and Spring still feels like a world away. Though I’ve felt it slightly differently this year.
