Stroud Arts and Crafts Garden – Border Reimagined

Located in the Stroud Valley, this Arts and Crafts garden project focused on reworking a long central border within an established Gloucestershire property. While the garden’s structure remained strong, the planting required renewed rhythm, resilience and seasonal depth.

Our approach began with careful observation of aspect, soil conditions and the surrounding valley landscape. The result is a drought-tolerant planting design that offers year-round structure, colour and movement, while remaining sensitive to the architectural language of the house.

The border has been reimagined as romantic and softly layered in form, balanced by a refined, contemporary colour palette. The effect is both atmospheric and composed – generous in texture, yet restrained in tone.

Seasonal highlights, textural contrast and flowers for cutting bring richness to the space, creating a garden that feels grounded, enduring and well suited to the Stroud Valley climate.
