Set within the grounds of a 17th-century period property, this garden design project marks the first phase of a wider landscape masterplan that will eventually extend across the estate’s walled garden, woodland and surrounding pasture.
The brief centred on creating a resilient, low-water planting scheme suited to clients who spend much of their time living and working abroad, requiring a landscape that remains robust, beautiful and manageable throughout the seasons. The design takes cues from the site’s existing planting and historic character, carefully weaving new interventions into the established setting to create a sense of continuity and permanence.
This initial phase focuses on establishing a strong planting framework that balances structure, softness and year-round interest, while laying the groundwork for the broader long-term vision for the estate. The approach combines climate-conscious planting with a sensitive response to the property’s architectural heritage and evolving landscape context.
