climate resilient aggregate garden

Nothing Wasted-
A climate resilient aggregate garden

Bradford on Avon
(work on progress)

Our brief was to create a space that seamlessly transitioned from the hostile environment of a car park into a productive growing space and coppice.

The project has been built almost entirely from recycled materials salvaged during the site renovation. Crushed concrete, reclaimed aggregate, and rescued dry stone walling demanded an inventive approach, resulting in a richly detailed and highly crafted landscape shaped by the materials themselves.

Designed for both people and wildlife, the space incorporates ponds, sand mounds, and bee posts alongside quieter areas to sit, pause, and take in views of the Westbury White Horse.

The aggregate planting draws inspiration from chalk meadow landscapes, using an Emorsgate Seeds wildflower mix complemented by perennial species grown from seed in a high-grit substrate. This approach encourages climate resilient resilient, site-adapted planting from the outset.

Planned using the Elemental Tool with sustainability at its core, the project is intended to evolve over time. We look forward to sharing its continued development as the planting establishes and the landscape gradually takes root.
