We work through a thoughtful, collaborative process that allows each garden to emerge naturally, guided by the land, the people who live there, and a shared approach to art-led garden & planting design developed together.
A relaxed conversation in your garden to explore your ideas, walk the space, and ensure we’re the right fit.
Every project begins with a conversation. We meet with you in your garden to walk the space together and talk through how you’d like it to feel, how you live, and what you’re drawn to. We’ll explore different garden styles, look at what’s already there, and begin to understand the rhythms of the site. Just as importantly, this first meeting allows us to get to know one another and ensure we’re the right fit for you and your garden – a relationship built on trust and shared understanding is central to our work.
Following our initial visit, we’ll prepare a written summary capturing our first impressions and the key points discussed, translating conversations into a clear design brief. Once this feels aligned, we move on to a detailed site analysis and survey. This involves carefully mapping the space, including levels and boundaries, documenting what exists, what will remain, and what may be reworked. We also assess aspect, soil type, and environmental conditions, allowing us to fully understand how the garden functions and which plants are most likely to thrive – forming a thoughtful, informed foundation for the design to follow.

Mood boards are developed to define the look and feel of the garden, followed by a draft master layout plan that sets the overall structure.
With a clear understanding of you and your garden, we begin the design stage. We develop a series of mood boards that explore the atmosphere, materials, planting style, and overall character of the space. These visual references help shape the direction of the garden and ensure we are aligned before moving forward.
Once the mood boards are agreed, we translate the concept into a draft master layout plan. This plan sets out the overall structure of the garden – how the spaces relate to one another, how they will be used, and how the design sits within the existing landscape – forming the framework on which the finer details will later be built.
With the master layout agreed, we begin developing the detailed design. This stage focuses on refining the structure of the garden – shaping levels, pathways, and key features – and carefully considering materials, finishes, and how each area will be experienced throughout the seasons.
Planting design is approached with equal care. Guided by our earlier site analysis, we create a planting scheme that responds to the soil, aspect, and conditions of your garden, balancing structure with softness and allowing the landscape to mature naturally over time. Our aim is to design gardens that feel cohesive and settled, rich in ecological value, and deeply connected to their setting, ensuring the finished space is both beautiful and resilient.
Refined drawings and a considered planting scheme are created, shaped by soil, aspect, and seasonal change.
We support the delivery of the design and offer guidance as the garden is planted, settles, and evolves over time.
Once the detailed design is complete, we support you through the implementation of the garden. We can work closely with trusted contractors or collaborate with your chosen team, providing clear drawings and guidance to ensure the design is realised with care and attention to detail. During this stage, we remain involved as the garden begins to take shape, offering advice and clarification as needed.
As the garden is planted and settles into its new form, we can also provide aftercare guidance to help it establish and evolve over time. Gardens are living, changing spaces, and our involvement doesn’t end the moment the work is finished. We believe the most successful gardens are those that are allowed to grow into themselves, and we’re always happy to offer ongoing support as your garden matures.
